Atlanta Thrashers acquire Clarke MacArthur from the Buffalo Sabres for a 3rd and a 4th round pick.

Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Raffi Torres to the Buffalo Sabres for Nathan Paetsch and a 2nd round pick.

Nice deal for the Sabres, should add some scoring depth to their roster.

Another minor deal, Calgary Flames acquire Vesa Toskala from the Anaheim Ducks for Curtis McElhinney.

The Minnesota Wild have traded Eric Belanger to the Washington Capitals for a 2nd round pick. Another depth move for the Capitals, should add some grit for the playoffs. Another UFA getting moved for a 2nd round pick.

Los Angeles Kings acquire Jeff Halpern from the Tampa Bay Lightning for Ted Purcell and a 3rd round pick.

Phoenix Coyotes add Mathieu Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks have acquired Yan Stastny from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Pierre-Cedric Labrie.

Jordan Owens has also been traded from the Rangers to the Red Wings in exchange for Kris Newbury.

The Phoenix Coyotes have traded Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter to Colorado in exchange for Wojtek Wolski. Finally our first “real” trade of the day, let’s hope there’s more coming.

The Washington Capitals acquire Scott Walker from the Carolina Hurricanes for a 7th round pick.

Walker will add a little depth to the Caps but he has 5 points in 33 games this year so don’t expect him to have a major impact. He could nonetheless be a decent 4th line player for the Capitals in the playoffs.

Carolina Hurricanes trade Aaron Ward to the Anaheim Ducks for Justin Pogge and a 4th round pick in 2010.
